Over 5,000 Amazon reviewers are obsessed.
Unimpressed by the lack of pigment in most lip glosses? Disappointed by how quickly other lip stains disappear? Constantly searching for the best lipstick for your skin tone? If any of these scenarios ring true in your life, then it’s time to check out the lip tint with nearly 9,000 Amazon reviews: Peripera Ink Velvet Lip Tint.
If you typically choose traditional lipsticks over lip tints, you’re going to love how lip stain deposits a longer-lasting color on your lips. “I will often recommend a stain as a first step on the lips, under lipstick and/or lip gloss. That way when the lipstick fades there will still be beautiful color on your lips,” says Allyson Wisel-Vogt, a New York-based makeup artist.
P.S. If you suffer from chapped lips, especially during the winter months, you might appreciate these lip oils, too.
What is Peripera Lip Tint?
Peripera lip tints offer lightweight, high pigment color that stains your lips for hours without leaving behind any sticky residue or unsightly clumps. While the brand makes a wide array of colors, Rosy Nude is the most popular—one tube is sold every three minutes, according to the brand.
Anyone who’s shopped for drugstore lipsticks knows that it’s not easy finding your perfect shade, which is why so many women gravitate toward nude lipsticks that match a variety of skin tones. Ever wonder what your favorite lipstick color says about your personality? Well, nude practically screams “warm and caring,” and there’s a lot to be said for giving off those vibes.
“This shade goes well with many different skin tones,” says bridal and film makeup artist Whitley Gillespie, who knows all the best makeup secrets and is a big fan of lip stains for the right occasion. “A lip stain lasts hours without budging, and there is no need to re-apply any pigment. I strongly suggest lip stains to brides because it’s guaranteed to last all day and into the night without any transfer.”

How to apply lip tint
Because lip tint literally stains your lips, you’ll want to avoid making any classic makeup mistakes during application by following these makeup artist-approved instructions.
Wisel-Vogt says the first step when applying lip stain is to make sure that your lips are properly exfoliated. Try using a lip scrub or a warm washcloth to gently scrub your lips and remove dead skin.
Next, apply a thin layer of lip balm to make sure your lips are properly hydrated. Wait about 30 to 60 seconds for the balm to sink in.
“Then, begin applying the stain to your bottom lip first, starting at one corner of your lip, moving the applicator to the middle of your lip,” says Wisel-Vogt. “Do the same from the other corner to the middle of your lip and now you have connected the lip color. Once you have the lip outline, you can go back and apply more stain to fill in your lip completely.”
Simply smack your lips together to transfer the lip stain to your top lip. On your top lip, you can make an “X” to define your cupid’s bow and continue to add color to the upper lip. Blot your lips with a tissue if you’ve applied too much stain.
“If you want to add lipstick or gloss on top of the stain for added dimension, wait about a minute until the stain has fully dried,” Wisel-Vogt says.
The best Amazon user reviews for Peripera Lip Tint
Verified buyer Kenzie Scout writes, “Omg the velvet perfection. This product applies like an opaque cream velvet lipstick, buttery smooth, not at all drying, and pigmented. Transfer proof and mask approved!”
She’s not alone in her sentiments. Rita Gonzales, whose five-star review of the Rosy Nude shade was titled “Old Lady Approved,” has found Peripera to be a great product for more mature lips, too. “It’s what I’ve been searching for: liquid, transfer-proof, perfect pinky-brown nude,” she writes. “Doesn’t wrinkle my old-lady lips. Feels airy light so I don’t feel the constant need to mash my lips together.”
Reviewer Kelsey has dubbed Peripera her “new holy grail lipstick,” because of how lightweight it is. “It barely feels like anything is on my lips when it dries,” she shares. “Substantially more comfortable than typical lipsticks.”
