1. Sorcerer’s Stone
A. At Number Four, Privet Drive
B. In a hut on a rock
C. In The Leaky Cauldron
Answer:
In the opening chapters of Sorcerer’s Stone, the Dursleys make a hasty escape from their home on Privet Drive in hopes of eluding the literal flood of Hogwarts letters arriving for Harry. They camp out in a hut on a rock in the middle of the sea, hoping that location will be remote enough. The plan backfires, though, when half-giant Hagrid breaks down the hut’s door and tells Harry the truth about his identity.
2. Sorcerer’s Stone
A. Knocks out a giant troll in a Hogwarts bathroom
B. Summons the sword of Gryffindor from the Sorting Hat
C. Catches Neville Longbottom’s Remembrall
Answer:
After notoriously clumsy Neville falls off his broom during the first years’ first flying lesson, the professor takes him to the hospital wing, leaving the students unattended. Bully Draco Malfoy can’t resist taking the opportunity to steal Neville’s Remembrall gadget and throw it towards the forest. Harry zooms off on his broom and catches it—in full view of Professor McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor House, who decides that Harry might be the key to boosting her House’s Quidditch prowess. True fans will also understand these Harry Potter jokes, too.
Answer:
Harry and his friends fly on broomsticks to catch the flying key that unlocks the door. Hermione, unsurprisingly, puzzles her way through Professor Snape’s potion bottle challenge. 4. Chamber of Secrets
A. Magically remove all the bones in his arm
B. Enchant a Bludger to chase him around the pitch
C. Jinx his broom
Answer:
Dobby’s primary concern is keeping Harry safe from Voldemort…even if Harry gets hurt in the process. He enchants one of the already-violent Quidditch balls to target Harry, and it ends up breaking his arm. Clueless Professor Lockhart only makes matters worse by removing the bones in Harry’s arm altogether.
Answer:
As the notoriously rule-abiding Hermione tells her friends, “I think I’d better do the actual stealing. You two will be expelled if you get into any more trouble, and I’ve got a clean record.” Did you know about the brilliant hidden meaning of Snape’s first words to Harry?
Answer:
Hermione had just figured out that the monster in the Chamber of Secrets was a Basilisk, and told the first person she encountered to use a mirror to avoid its deadly stare. That person was Muggle-born student Penelope Clearwater, who was also a Prefect for Ravenclaw House. Fun bonus fact: In The Deathly Hallows, when Harry, Ron, and Hermione are discovered in the woods by Snatchers, Hermione gives “Penelope Clearwater” as a fake name.
Answer:
A trio of teachers comes into the Three Broomsticks: Professors Flitwick, McGonagall, and Hagrid, accompanied by the Minister of Magic himself. With no idea that Harry is listening to their every word under the Invisibility Cloak, they and the barmaid discuss Sirius Black’s alleged betrayal of Harry’s parents, even mentioning the fact that Sirius is Harry’s godfather. If you need a break from this Harry Potter quiz, but not from Harry, these Harry Potter jokes will make even Muggles laugh.
Answer:
When Scabbers goes missing, Ron blames Hermione’s cat, Crookshanks. Harry wonders if Scabbers’ disappearance will ruin Ron and Hermione’s friendship altogether. Of course, Ron later learns that Scabbers is actually Voldemort’s supposed-dead servant, Peter Pettigrew, in disguise, and loses all attachment to his pet.
Answer:
While all three of these characters are the subject of surprising reveals, the Animagus reveal at the end of the Goblet of Fire is Rita Skeeter. Hermione (of course) is able to figure out that shady reporter Rita Skeeter is learning people’s private information by snooping around in animal form—as a tiny beetle. Here are some books with awesome female characters that Hermione would totally approve of.
13. Order of the Phoenix
A. He spreads the “lie” that Voldemort has returned
B. He magically inflates his aunt
C. He uses the Patronus Charm in front of a Muggle
Answer:
When soul-sucking Dementors attack Harry and his very-much-a-Muggle cousin Dudley, Harry is forced to use magic to save them. Underage wizards are forbidden to do magic outside of school, period, and performing it in front of a Muggle is nearly enough to get Harry expelled. However, the court drops all charges since it was a situation where lives were in danger.
14. Order of the Phoenix
A. Harry Potter and Hermione Granger
B. Cho Chang and Ginny Weasley
C. Fred Weasley and George Weasley
Answer:

C. Cornelius Fudge, Rufus Scrimgeour, Pius Thicknesse, Kingsley Shacklebolt
Answer:

After the Wizarding world learns that he spent a year denying the very real return of Lord Voldemort, Fudge gets fired and replaced with Rufus Scrimgeour. Scrimgeour, though, is killed when the Death Eaters infiltrate the Ministry of Magic. They set up a literal puppet government, controlling Minister Pius Thicknesse with the Imperius Curse. After Voldemort’s defeat, Order of the Phoenix member Kingsley Shacklebolt becomes Minister.
