Forest Falls, CA
"Beautiful forest and falls" and "A mile closer to heaven"
Forest Falls is a small community with a big heart, with beautiful redwoods and towering waterfalls. We have a three classroom schoolhouse, one general store, one restaurant, and two art galleries. Grounded by the peace and serenity of the canyon, we’re just minutes from the city — though most people don’t even realize it. We are home to southern California’s tallest waterfall and mountain, Big Falls and Mount San Gorgonio, as well as many other natural features like Vivian Falls and Monkey Face Falls. At one time, our community boasted multiple lodges and restaurants, which unfortunately now mostly sit abandoned and vacant. Our town has so much potential to offer for visitors.
Stories About Forest Falls
We are a people who look out for their neighbors, lend a helping hand, and come together. For example, when our original stone schoolhouse was deemed unsafe in 1979, several Forest Falls homeowners mortgaged their houses to build the new school. The old stone school has now been abandoned for nearly 40 years, and the community is coming together once again to save the historic structure.
People volunteer once a month to make soup and host a potluck for the community at no cost. There’s also a monthly music night where people showcase their musical talents, in addition to volunteer firefighters and search and rescue squads.
