Petco Park in San Diego, CA
"Home of the San Diego Padres"
San Diego is home to a diverse community of residents with hearts that are just as sunny and beautiful as the city itself. The San Diego Padres know first-hand how friendly and welcoming the fans can be and the Padres Volunteer Team is proud to showcase the team’s kindness in many ways at Petco Park and beyond. At Petco Park, the efforts to bring the community together extend beyond the game of baseball.
The Padres Volunteer Team is a county-wide group comprised of Padres fans, players, alumni and staff, who donate their time to the city’s nonprofits, civic organizations, and Padres Foundation activities. These small but meaningful acts of kindness range from sorting and organizing clothing drives for local veterans to preparing and serving lunch for the city’s homeless community. Some of the many organizations that are served by the Padres Volunteer Team include Pedal the Cause, Rady Children’s Hospital, Armed Services YMCA, and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater San Diego.
Following the news of the Chargers relocation to Los Angeles, the Padres hosted Celebrate San Diego, a free rally for the public aimed at honoring the locals and their love for the city. Over 12,000 fans gathered at Petco Park to listen to speeches from athletes, elected officials, and civic leaders who call San Diego home, including Padres Hall of Famer, Trevor Hoffman, former Chargers center, Nick Hardwick, and many more. The Padres provided fans in attendance the opportunity to exchange their Chargers gear for store credit to the Padres Majestic Team Store and distributed the donated clothing to local charitable organizations to benefit our neighbors in need.
The Padres are proud to live within a community that demonstrates such class and generosity, and these are just some of the many reasons why Petco Park is one of the nicest places in America.
